anti-racism
ISS is aware of the inequalities and inequities within the Intimacy Coordination and Intimacy Direction industry along with the arts industry as a whole. We want to commit to changing this and contributing to a fairer community with opportunities for all. We recognise if you are discussing sexual content and working with storylines and themes then you want the option to have someone who looks like you, advocating for you within the room.
So what do these commitments look like in practical terms?

So what do these commitments look like in practical terms?
Education:
- Ensuring our teaching content reflects sexual experiences from cultures outside of the Europe in our Intimacy Coordination and Intimacy Direction Certification Programmes.
- Projects and Assignments will specifically look at the history, experiences and culture of black people and people of colour.
- Anti-Racism training as a precursor to entering the course as teacher or a student.
Employment:
- Employing increasing numbers of black people and people of colour as visiting workshop professionals and regular teaching professionals.
Accountability:
- Bi-annually reviewing our progress with Diverse Matters Ltd to ensure accountability and compliance.
Diversity:
- Ensuring our student population is a reflection of what our society actually looks like and not what the few opportunities the arts industry has afforded black and people of colour creatives.
Social Activism:
- We have chosen to financially support two black owned and operated charities and will continue to do so with a monthly donation to ensure their work continues to benefit the communities around us.
We thank you so much for your support.
